Appeal of Denial of Service
DCL 2-6 Appeal of Denial of Service
The following policy shall constitute right of appeal for Denial of Library Services by the Dunklin County Library.
Patrons who have been denied library service for any reason shall, after the normal course of reviews by Branch Librarians, the Assistant Library Director as specified by other Library Policy, have fifteen (15) days to appeal in writing such Denial to the Library Director. The Director shall respond in writing with a decision concerning the denial within fifteen (15) days.
If the Director finds that service shall continue to be denied, a final appeal may be made to the Dunklin County Library Board of Trustees within thirty (30) days of the Director’s denial finding.
Patrons may appeal to the Board of Trustees either in writing or in person.
If the appeal is in writing, it must arrive at the Library Director’s office no later than 5:30 PM, on the second Monday of each month, so that copies of the appeal and previous findings can be included in the Board Member’s Meeting Packet.
If the Patron desires to appeal to the Board in person, he or she must so advise the Library Director in writing by 5:30 PM, on the second Monday of each month, so that the person may be placed on the Board’s agenda for its next Regular Meeting.
The Board of Trustees conducts its Regular Meetings at 11:00am, at the Headquarters Library in Kennett, on the third Monday of each month.
